Hannah Long (Redlands, CA) is an emerging dance and photographic artist based in Raleigh, NC. She graduated in spring of 2019 from UNC Greensboro with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance and K-12 Licensure. She spent a semester studying dance in Cape Town, South Africa, an experience that inspired her deep appreciation for African dance in its traditional and contemporary forms. At UNC Greensboro, she performed in works by Marcus White, Justin Tornow, Arlynn Zachary and Ronald K. Brown. She was part of the Clarice Young Project that performed Love, the Root of Resistance at the Greensboro Project Space and Durham Arts Council. Her first year post-grad was spent in New York City where she was a recipient of the Beth Young Scholarship for Evidence Dance Company’s Dance Workshop Series and worked for Mark Morris and Gibney Dance Centers. She also photographed incredible companies in action such as The DASH Ensemble, Peter & Co. and Evidence Dance Company. Since moving back to NC, Hannah published a magazine of her project Unprecedented Sense of Time; a compilation of stories and images from virtual photoshoots with 40 dancers during quarantine. This is her first season with JOYEMOVEMENT.
